The project originates from the desire to create an event that is as yet non-existent on a regional and, above all, national context. 
The type of event that finds its natural venue in an area such as that of Monterosa Ski, where in addition to offering a vast range of downhill pistes, off-piste enthusiasts can also enjoy some interesting itineraries, of various levels of difficulty and particular beauty.  Particularly notable is the traditional, popular track (known to the locals as the Giro di Alagna) that leads from Passo dei Salati to Alagna-Punta Indren to Gressoney. A location that with its two thousand seven hundred metres of height difference will be home to the circuit of the first edition of "Monterosaskirider".

 



It is the expression of a project put together by mountainside professionals, with the aid of Monterosa Ski tourism promotion boards.  It originates from the evaluation of important indicators on the evolution of ski-ing and its trend in recent years: the area attracts increasing large numbers of off-piste enthusiasts.  We can testify to this by simply observing the number of Freeriders mingling with the conventional skiers, on the downhill pistes, that  are armed with ARVA avalanch search equipment, helmet, backpack, shovel and probe, taking to the slopes of the Olen valley, or by consulting Italian and foreign sector magazines that also quote our resorts, to understand how important it is to consider this market sector, which we believe is important and stimulating and certainly not to be overlooked. These are the reasons that urged us to organise the 1st Monterosaskirider.
