CALENDAR
The "MONTEROSASKIRIDER"
derby will take place on the 14th – 15th – 16th April, to be postponed to the
17th in the event of
bad weather, cancelled if the bad weather persists).
COURSE
The race will be divided into two heats, the first from the Passo dei
Salati 2980m to Pianalunga 2050m along the Olen valley, the second from Punta
Indren 3400m to Gressoney La Trinité - Staffal 1820m. The course will not
undergo any particular preparation, conditions will be dictated by
the weather and snow conditions. The Organising Committee may decide
to include compulsory stretches and exclude hazard areas or channels
from the course.
PARTICIPATION
The challenge is open to all over 18s. All participants
must have a medical certificate testifying that they are fit to
compete. The organisation denies all responsibility for any damage
to people and objects deriving from participation in the derby.
Moreover, it will not be held responsible for any material of
physical damage the competitors may suffer during the competition.
The number of participants in the derby is determined by the
Organising Committee, according to course conditions. The choice of
the itinerary to be followed is the responsibility of each
individual competitor, who is informed and aware of the risks of
serious accidents during mountain races. In the case of accidents,
each competitor undertakes to co-operate fully with first aid
operations until such time as the organisation arrives. The
Organising Committee may decide to forbid descent and passage in
certain areas or points, with immediate disqualification for
non-compliance.
INSURANCE
The registration fee includes insurance costs and a one-day
ski-pass for the day of the race only.
REGISTRATION
The registration fee is € 60 and includes, for the day of
the race: registration, ski-pass, a lunch voucher, insurance against
accidents and a series of gadgets and free gifts from the event’s
sponsors. Each competitor must sign up for one of the following
categories: ski, snowboard (poles not allowed), telemark by the 10th
April 2003 at the latest. Registration takes place on the relevant
page of the website www.monterosaskirider.com.
Each registered competitor will be given a personal registration
voucher that is valid for competitor bib and one-day ski-pass
collection, from the Race Office. The first 300 registrations received will be
accepted.
RECOGNITION
Course recognition must be made by the first day of the race at
the latest. No recognition is allowed on the day of the race.
STARTING POINT
The start of the race will involved mixed-discipline waves of 5
or 10 participants (ski, snowboard, telemark). The start of the
first heat is scheduled for 8.15 a.m. at Passo Salati, lifts open at
7.00 p.m. The start of the second heat is scheduled for
approximately 1 and ˝ hours after the arrival of the competitors from the first
heat, at approximately 10.30 a.m. The wave to which one belongs in the first heat is
established by the bib assigned and according to the order of the
start, which will be compiled and posted at the end of the briefing.
The assignation of the starting wave of the second heat will be
assigned at the exit of the finishing area of the first heat. Bibs
not present in their wave will be disqualified.
SAFETY
All competitors must be equipped with the following: type approved
helmet, shovel, probe and ARVA avalanche search equipment (which
must be worn and positioned in transmission in contact with the
body). The material will be checked at the starting line and along
the course. Any competitor found not to be perfectly in compliance
with regulations on compulsory equipment will be disqualified. A competitor briefing will be held in the Race Office on
Thursday 14th
April at 5.00 p.m. During the briefing, competitors will be informed
of the starting order for the first heat, with the time of the
various waves.
COMPETITOR BIBS.
Bibs can be collected from the Race Office from to Wed 13th to Thursday
14th, prior to the 5.00 p.m. briefing. Competitors not wearing official bibs will not be allowed to
participate and bibs must be well visible for the entire duration of
the race.
SKI-PASS
On the day of the race, competitors with vouchers will receive a
one-day ski-pass valid for that day only.
DISQUALIFICATION
All breaches or attempted breaches of the abovementioned
regulations will result in disqualification. No external aid is authorised during the race; any competitor
not in his/her assigned wave will be disqualified. Should the
Organising Committee identify compulsory sections or forbidden
stretches, non-compliance will entail disqualification.
FINAL POSITION TABLE
The final position table will be compiled by the addition of the
times recorded in the two heats. Three position tables will be
compiled: one absolute table, one per discipline and one for teams,
each one divided into male and female categories. With regards to
the team competition, female competitors will be given a 40 second
advantage on the combined times of the two heats.
TEAMS
Each team is composed of three participants: of whom a maximum
of two may be skiers + one remaining discipline (telemark or
snowboard). Each component must be individually registered in his/her
respective category. In order to make itself recognised, the team
must be registered at the time of bib collection. The addition of
the times recorded by the various components will determine the
position table. Female competitors will be given a 40 second
advantage on the combined times of the two heats.
PRIZES
The best three absolute times will receive prizes of € 1000,
€ 750, €600 respectively. The 4th and 5th
best times: prizes in technical material. The best times of each
male and female discipline will receive € 400. The first three
teams will receive € 1000, € 750 and € 500 respectively. The
4th and 5th team: prizes in technical material. The individual
discipline prizes cannot be accumulated with absolute prizes.
AMENDMENTS The Organising Committee reserves the right to
make amendments to these regulations and to postpone or cancel the
race, in particular in the case of bad weather and instability of
the snow layer.
REFUNDS If the race is cancelled (Organising Committee
decision), no refund will be made.
